Forestry Mulching
What is it?
Forestry mulching is a beneficial practice for both the land and the landowner. It can improve the appearance, health, and value of the property.
Northeast Forestry Mulching utilizes a CAT 306 Excavator with a Fecon FMX 36 mulching head to cut and chip trees and other vegetation into small pieces that cover the soil surface. It is a form of land clearing and management that has many benefits.
What are the Benefits ?
Landscape control: Forestry mulching allows the landowner to choose which plants to keep and which ones to remove, creating a more desirable and park-like environment.
Erosion control: Forestry mulching prevents soil erosion by leaving a layer of organic material that protects the soil from wind and rain. It also preserves the roots of the remaining vegetation, which help to stabilize the soil.
Soil quality improvement: Forestry mulching enriches the soil with nutrients and organic matter as the mulch decomposes. It also reduces soil acidity, increases pH levels, and prevents mold and fungus growth.
Time and environment conservation: Forestry mulching is faster and more efficient than traditional land clearing methods, such as bulldozing or burning. It does not require permits, site plans, or heavy machinery and is not weather dependent. It also reduces air pollution and fire hazards by avoiding burning vegetation.
